Will Holland, a.k.a “Quantic” has to be one of the most important elements of this project, as he was the architect of this particular collaborative process. This British producer, started his musical career compiling, producing and writing deep funk /soul cuts and now he has over 12 LP’s and has performed worldwide as a DJ and as a guitarist in full format bands. His never-ending exploration for vinyls led him into the Latin-american tropical sounds, producing several records in Sonido del Valle: his production headquarters for over 5 years in Cali Colombia.
The Quantic Soul Orchestra, Quantic & His Combo Bárbaro and his recent collaborative album with Alice Russell have been very powerful projects, but it’s with Ondatrópica where he achieves the “widest artistic concept,” as he mentions, of his tropical music projects. Recorded in legendary Discos Fuentes, Quantic leaded this production on pure analog equipment; recorded as it used to be done on Fuentes’ golden days. “It is a process of commitment,” he states, as many of the “creative decisions had to be done at the moment.”
